Alex Hall (Scottish footballer)

Alex Hall (6 November 1908 – 5 September 1991)[1] was a Scottish footballer who played for Sunderland as a defender. He was born in East Calder, Scotland.[2]

Club career

Sunderland acquired Hall from Dunfermline for £750 in 1929.[3] He made his debut on 4 May 1929 in a 0–4 loss against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane,[2] and was placed on the reserve list until the 1934–35 season.[3] In his career at Sunderland, he made 238 appearances with only one goal,[2] and led Sunderland to win the 1937 FA Cup Final.[3] The Second World War effectively ended his career, but he made one appearance for Hibernian in the 1946–47 season.[4]
